Latest Development of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte convenes several Cabinet members to discuss the latest development of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in the country and the government’s response and efforts to alleviate the effects of the current health crisis.

With Christmas Day drawing near, the President appeals to his ‘kababayans’ to keep in mind the threat of COVID-19 amid ongoing Christmas preparations and continue to observe all health protocols as the country is still months away from the vaccine arrival.

He warns his countrymen on the dangers of more people going to public places and complacency during the Christmas season as these activities could result in increased COVID-19 cases after the holidays.

He also calls on transportation officials to address the issues besetting the implementation of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System to ensure faster traffic flow at the tollgates.

With the government further intensifying its battle against corruption, the President continues to read the names of government officials currently suspended or have been dismissed from public service.

At the same time, President Duterte conveys his wishes to his fellow Filipinos to be safe this forthcoming Christmas and beyond as the nation looks forward to a better and brighter new year.
